We are proud to present the Demo release for Tales of Hearts!
This release is intended to give a basic feel for the game and what the translation will be like. It covers approximately the first hour of the game and has the loading of save games disabled (this is a demo, after all). Please carefully read the readme for patching instructions and further notes 🙂 (I will delete your comments if they clearly show you haven’t bothered to glance at the readme first.)
I might as well post a few screenshots, too:
As you can see, battle subs are now working. Once again, I must give props to Kingcom, whose subtitle engine is very nicely coded. I found that it was relatively easy to shoehorn it into Hearts, change a few things, and hook up the wiring to get it working, so to speak. Everyone, please send him your thanks 😛
This one’s a screenshot from the Monster Book. Nothing too special, just that I realized I never posted a screenshot of it. And last but not least:
A representative shot of everyone’s Favorites list in the Museum.
Well, that’s all for now. Please let me know what you think! And again, please at least skim over the included readme before you post any comments asking any questions about the patch! 🙂

Has anyone played tales of heart and they can tell me if it’s better than tales of innocence. Right now, I’m enjoying tales of innocence and I was wondering if tales of heart was just as good because it had a lower score rating in Japan and it seemed to be a on a lower number on the best-selling list than tales of innocence. I love the tales series but there was couple of tales games that I didn’t enjoy like tales of legendia and tales of symphonia so if tales of heart is like that. It would nice to have a heads up.

Great work. I’m loving Hearts so far. Graphically and art style-wise, I already prefer it over Innocence. Don’t get me wrong, I love Innocence, but the limited view in battles and the somewhat muddy 3D and dull character models bothered me a bit. The gameplay systems were great, though and I really enjoyed the story and characters (even if their visual designs weren’t my favorite).
Anyway, I always really liked the 2D Tales battle systems most. It brings me back, playing a new installment like that. Thanks for putting this project together. I can’t wait to see the fruit of your labor once the patch is complete.

waaaaa! >_< I really can't w8 for the full english translation T^T good thing Innocence is fully translated now OwO Currently playing it right now Teehehehe
oh btw…
@Kajitani-Eizan
why not release smaller version of the english patch game? Like Hmm…not the full but only the one's that you have subbed so far? like just the menus…coz a lot of players would really be contented with that, but then again…it is still cooler to play it when it's fully translated ^^
Good luck and more power to you

how the hell does one call himself rpg lover and NOT like tales of symphonia, imo it was the best after the tales of abyss series but an opinion is an opinion.

KAJI’S BANNER SAYS “EIGHT YEARS OF TALES” BECAUSE HE’S BEEN WORKING ON TALES GAMES FOR EIGHT YEARS. GAMES BESIDES HEARTS. YOU KNOW HEARTS IS ONLY ONE OF THE GAMES IN THE TALES SERIES, RIGHT? I SURE FUCKING HOPE SO.
JESUS CHRIST. WITH PEOPLE LIKE YOU POSTING ON THIS BLOG, I WOULDN’T BE SURPRISED IF KAJI DID FUCKING DROP THE PROJECT. IT WOULD SERVE IGNORANT ASSHOLES LIKE YOU RIGHT.
HOW THE HELL DID YOU EVEN LEARN TO TYPE? I WOULD ASSUME SOMEONE OF YOUR MENTAL CAPACITY WOULD FORGET HOW TO BREATHE BEFORE MANAGING TO FIGURE OUT WHERE THE SPACE BAR IS.

Lol @ Anonymous. That one makes a bit more sense… Still sounds bizarrely angry though.
Oh, and btw Detsu, I was the one who originally posted the comment that resulted in Kaji updating that banner to say “8 years of Tales.” Kinda makes your comment even more ironic.

Also,
“JESUS CHRIST. WITH PEOPLE LIKE YOU POSTING ON THIS BLOG, I WOULDN’T BE SURPRISED IF KAJI DID FUCKING DROP THE PROJECT. IT WOULD SERVE IGNORANT ASSHOLES LIKE YOU RIGHT.”
If Kaji dropped the project, it really wouldn’t affect me much at all, as I’m currently learning Japanese (while you’re apparently sitting on your ass typing up hate mail) and just learned my 2000th kanji. There’s actually a pretty good chance that I’ll understand enough to play it in Japanese by the time the patch comes out, as well as all of the other Japanese Tales games. That entirely depends on the translation team and how far along the project is, of course… as well as how much of a lazy ass I am 😐
Definitely going to play Kaji’s version regardless though.

Also Kaji, could you delete the “comment awaiting moderation” that I sent (June 28, 2011 at 5:31 pm)? The site kept responding with “No data sent,” so it’d more or less be a double post if approved now. :/

HEY NOW, LET’S NOT GET AHEAD OF OURSELVES. I TOTALLY REMEMBERED MY SITE’S ANNIVERSARY AND UPDATED THE BANNER PRIOR TO YOUR POST. YOUR TIMING, HOWEVER, WAS IMPECCABLE, AND I THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIMELY SUGGESTION.

Everyone just chill… Do what I do… Go play something else while you wait… Me? I’m playing Fable 3, Skies of Arcadia Legends, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Starcraft 2, Tales of Symphonia, Tales of Vesperia, Trinity Universe, and the old classic Spyro the Dragon… I’m also still playing AZ’s Tales of Innocence translation as well as my many many Pokemon games… I’m sure a huge number of you guys have other games you could be playing…
If Kaji was gonna’ quit, he’d have quit already… He seems to laugh at people who make angry comments and roll along with those who stay calm and take it in stride… But I don’t presume to understand him and I may be wrong about him… All I’m saying is to not be so impatient… K-E’s translation will be done when it’s done…

@SSVAV Sadly it seems that it won’t happen.

@Gehrich That’s exactly why Op Rainfall hasn’t given up, and they are planning more stuff as we speak. Nintendo says “Never say Never”, Rainfall says just the same. Let’s show the world that RPGs have an audience, and a big one at that. I love RPGs, just like I love FPSs like Battlefield, like I love racing games like NFS, just like I love strategy games like Fire Emblem, like I love platforming games like Mario & Sonic, like I love sports games like FIFA. If I wasn’t able to play one of those genres, like RPGs and JRPGs in particular, my gaming experience wouldn’t be complete. Namco isn’t helping by ignoring the West market when it comes to Tales (My God, announce Xillia for Western release ALREADY!), and now NoA isn’t helping either. I live in Europe, but they NEED to release those games in America as well, to show the world these games are needed worldwide, not only in Japan. Japan is an island, America and Europe are continents. I agree some games are not suitable for a West release (NISA and XSEED are there to translate those), but games like the Tales series or Xenoblade and Last Story can easily live up to Final Fantasy (JRPG recently “Westernized” in a bad way to suit our market), Battlefield, Fifa, CoD and NFS in terms of entertainment, although it may not have a huge hit like CoD or Fifa does (and seriously, trying to aim so high is just surreal for games like RPGs)
I have a friend of mine who loves FPS and sports games, and I showed him up some of my RPGs. He saw my play count (over 100+ hours for Tales of the Abyss) and says he doesn’t want to play games that take so long to end. I can understand him, because sports and FPS are drop-in drop-out style of games, but in a way, I disagree with him too. Good games are made to last. Xenoblade has a HUGE world. Last Story has competitive and cooperative online play. Pandora’s Tower is just awesome with its action gameplay. And Tales of Hearts sleeps, waiting to tell us an epic story, just like every Tales game has (excluding Symphonia 2).
July 6, 2011 at 2:12 am | Permalink
It’s sad, but Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft are starting to deny the American public the JRPGs because they think there’s no profit to be made… Unlike the foundational generations of the gaming industry where publishers and developers fought tooth and nail for customer satisfaction, the entirety of the gaming industry, much like the rest of the world, has sold their souls for money… They don’t give a shit about gamers or consumers, all they care about is their damn wallets…
July 6, 2011 at 2:47 am | Permalink
What really pisses me off though is the Vesperia bullshit B-N pulled… They released a fucking Beta to the entire world as a completed product, then when they finished work on the real Tales of Vesperia it was exclusively on the PS3 and exclusively in Japan… THE REST OF THE WORLD GOT A FUCKING BETA!?! It makes me so mad I wanna’ go all the way to Japan just to kick the B-N CEO’s ass!
July 6, 2011 at 4:27 pm | Permalink
NB is well known for releasing good to great games in Japan and never releasing it anywhere else. Xbox 360 was developed by an american corporation and has very low sales in Japan compared to Wii and PS3. Did you really *laughs* REALLY thought ToV would be a Xbox 360 exclusive? Really? If so, the joke is on you. IMO Microsoft paid Namdai to release an “exclusive” Tales game for the 360 to raise their sells in Japan, but they knew from the beginning Vesperia would end up on the PS3.
NB loves Sony. How many Tales games do you know that were first Nintendo exclusive but ended up being released in enhanced versions on a Sony console? I just can’t understand why wiiaboos cried so loud when ToGf was released. Had they forgotten about ToS-PS2 so fast?
And I’m not saying here that PS3 is the best console and blah blah blah, I just think it’s more than obvious ever since the PSX era that Namco has a favorite and it’s Sony. You are just so mad because you refused to see the truth when Vesperia was released.
July 6, 2011 at 4:34 pm | Permalink
I’m fucking mad because they denied America the full version… I could care less which system it’s on!
July 6, 2011 at 4:36 pm | Permalink
Oh and by the way ToV beta version release in the US was ridiculously obvious to happen. I mean how many good games do you know for 360 that are Japan exclusive? That would be like making a beta of Battlefield 3 for Wii only and never releasing the full version for Windows or 360.
